	web	Who Is It? Description: A chosen 'guesser' goes out room. A leader is then picked from the group. Whatever the leader does the group must copy. When the 'guesser' enters they must try and see who the leader is by trying to work out who is starting the new actions off (tell the group not to all look at leader as it makes it harder). This is a really fun game and is good to keep a small group occupied for short time.

Power Game / Scissors
Scissors is a neat trick to have in your bag for those down times when everyone is getting bored. Unfortunately, you can not do it more than once with the same group. If you do not have a pair of scissors, two sticks, two pencils or anything which can simulate open or closed scissors will do.
Have the group sit in a circle. While passing the scissors to the person on his/her right, the leader says "I receive the scissors (either open or closed) and I pass them (either open or closed)". The person receiving repeats the statement while passing to the next person. The leader (and anyone else who has caught on to the trick) announces if each part of the statement is right or wrong. Continue until everyone can pass the scissors correctly.
The trick has nothing to do with the scissors. Open and closed refer to whether the person's legs or feet are crossed (closed) or uncrossed (open) when receiving and passing.
This activity usually generates some discussion about the importance of looking past the obvious and thinking creatively.

Description: A chosen 'guesser' goes out room. A leader is then picked from the group. Whatever the leader does the group must copy. When the 'guesser' enters they must try and see who the leader is by trying to work out who is starting the new actions off (tell the group not to all look at leader as it makes it harder). This is a really fun game and is good to keep a small group occupied for short time.

Here's a simple, yet fun activity: Each person uses different colored pen, creates a squiggly line or scribble (the only rule is no intersecting lines) and passes it to the person on the right who makes a drawing out of it. When a squiggle is received it can be rotated in any direction to get an idea what to make out of it.The drawings can be wild and imaginative, they are not judged, they're just for fun. The results usually bring lots of laughter.

Purpose of Activity: To have students work together to solve a problem.
Suggested Grade Level: 6-12

Description of Idea

Have a small group of students (5-6) hold hands in a straight line, all facing in the same direction. The person at the end puts their hand up against a wall or holds onto a pole.The task is for everyone, including the person with their hand around the pole or up against the wall, to end up with their arms folded across their chest.

None of the students can let go of their hands and the person at end must keep hand on the wall or pole. There are a number of known ways to solve this problem. Give the students plenty of time to discuss possible solutions.

SOLUTION
If you are setting this up correctly, you should have a line of students holding hands in a straight line. One end person is either holding onto a pole or has their hand against a wall, and the other end person is at the end of the line with one hand free.

One solution to this problem is that the end person who is free to move, leads the entire group under the arm of the person attached to the pole or wall. This end person continues to lead the group under the wall person's arm again and again until everyone has their arms crossed. Finally the end person turns and faces the opposite direction w/o taking their arm off of the wall (this crosses their arms).

A second solution is by going off of the disco inferno theme (a late 70's Staying Alive Dance move). Everyone crosses their arms overhead in a disco like turn to cross arms.
